Circus Leura is an indulgent experience that brings the latest fashions from the city over the Blue Mountains to women in Leura.
Donna Prudames started the business in 2002 after spending 20 years in the wholesale fashion business. “We have a very strong local business,” explains Donna. “Our database is loaded with ladies from Bathurst, Orange, Mudgee and, of course, Leura. Being a tourist destination we also have a vast tourist customer flow from Sydney and overseas visitors.”
Catering to such a vast audience can be daunting for some, but not for Donna. With extensive experience in the fashion industry, Donna has a natural instinct when it comes to styling customers.
The store offers a personalised shopping service, which means you can put together a look with ease. “Bring in your girlfriends, hubby, your daughter or your mum and make a real evening of it,” suggests Donna and her team.
“We supply you with a skilled fashion consultant, some bubbly and some nibbles and you have the whole store to enjoy without any interruptions.”
As we move into the colder Winter months, Donna has some advice for those looking to update their wardrobe; “Layering is definitely the way to go in the mountains. As the weather changes you can peel off or put on, depending on the temperature. We sometimes have four seasons in one day!” says Donna.
“Must-haves for Winter are definitely a leather or suede jacket, warm woollen scarfs, snug boots and gloves,” she suggests.
Circus Boutique complements their fabulous retail store with an easy-to-navigate website. Most of what’s in store is on the site and customers can browse and order from the comfort of their homes. This is handy when the weather gets too wild to venture outdoors or if you, like most, are time poor. Just find what you want from their extensive online collection, pop it in the online shopping cart and the Circus girls will package it up and post your purchases.
Donna is committed to making sure customers at Circus are well looked after and offers regular specials and promotions. “Circus has a VIP club notifying customers about pre-sale evenings, product nights and of course discount vouchers,” she explains.“Shopping online has become more popular, especially in remote or isolated areas. It’s convenient and you can shop any time of the day or night...which means you no longer have to worry about impatient children (or husbands!) wanting to get going. Women in rural areas are embracing the concept as we learn more about shopping opportunities in other towns.”
